Olive Oil

12" x 12" acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas

I was bored with the painting below and decided to add more vibrant color to it. The finished painting is much more fun than it used to be. Although you can't see it in the picture, the edges are painted a soft olive green and that really adds to the overall effect.

I am working with oils again and have no finished paintings to post yet.

Thanks for stopping by.

Olive Oil WIP

12" x 12" acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas

I used a new brand of wrapped canvas for this one. It has a finer finish than the ones I have used before.
I'm not sure if I am finished with this one or not. I'll have to think about it for a day or two.

Round Like a Circle in a Spiral

20" x 20" acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas

Remember the Dusty Springfield song?

A friend saw this painting and remarked that plates painted like this would be great fun! Hmmmm, new ideas abound!

Bee Sweet

20" x 20" acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas

I continue to love the vibrancy of pinks with oranges. This painting began as a single petal and finished with the third bee.
Living in the south, I often hear the phrase "be sweet"...which came to mind after completing this fun painting.

Ebullient

20" x 20" acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas

I think that yellow is particularly difficult to work with. I thought I would give it a try.
This is the "evolution" of the yellow work in progress below. I hated the straight lines and wanted more flow within the painting. Quite a change, huh?

I used light modeling paste on this one to give the water and buildings texture.

What's Inside?

Working with compliments is one of my favorite things to do.

In an effort to add some complexity to the painting below, I added some additional colors and contrasts for emphasis.

AT LAST I'M BACK

Thanks for your patience.  I have been painting like crazy, but my photo cataloging software has not worked in some time.  I bought an iPhone because I needed a new cellphone and I absolutely love it.  It is made by Apple and it is lightyears ahead of any other phone I have tried.  I loved its ease of operating and its amazing capabilities that I decided to buy an iMac to replace my old computer.  It took courage to switch for a PC to a Mac.  The iMac arrived yesterday and it is up and running like a champ.  I have uploaded some pictures of my paintings and I will post those soon.  Again, thanks for your patience and thanks for stopping by.  I should be posting regularly now that I have a great computer with wonderful photo managing software.

Thanks

As you recall, I have had problems posting my paintings because of software issues. Thanks for stopping by and thanks for your patience.

This diptych was a blast to paint!

This photo does not do the painting justice. The underpainting of brilliant red/orange is not as vibrant in the picture as the painting really is. I am looking forward to some help from my photography-wizard son who will be visiting me soon.
I am quite please with how this one turned out.

Commission

This is a 20" x 20" acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas that I painted for a commission. I love the electricity and energy created when orange, pink, and red play against the turquoise.

Update

My apologies for being absent for so long. I have had issues with my silly photo cataloging software. I had Picasa and it was working fine until I took my computer in to be "cleaned up". It seems that whatever the computer guy did messed up the way I could crop and save my photos. Therefore, I am trying to work with the software that came with my camera. Please bear with me as I try to get familiar with this.

The good news is that I have been really busy painting and have sold a few. I will post some that I have been working on over the last few days. Thanks for visiting and thanks for your patience.

NEW CITYSCAPE PASTELS

This is my newest set of pastels which recently arrived. It is the Alan Flatmann Cityscape set by Great American Pastel Company. I love the brightness of the colors and the wide range which should be good for cityscapes and my other types of paintings... therefore, the flower painting below.

After getting the new set of pastels shown above, I was dying to try out some of the new colors. I love this Alan Flatmann set called "Cityscape" by Great American Pastel Company.
